The title of this three-part brilliant documentary comes from a quote from José Martí, Cuba's nineteenth century national hero, "It's the hour of the furnaces and only the light shall be seen". Che Guevara also quoted it in his last public statement.

 The film is an analysis of neocolonialism & resistance in both his native Argentina & throughout Latin America, and attacks the neocolonialism of Europe and the United States from a Latin American perspective. It reveals brutally wretched working conditions, government collusion, military repression, foisted upon the Argentinean poor and indigenous population by the plutocracy, which sells the country's natural resources to foreign interests.

It weaves together a wide variety of materials, include film footage, interviews, television commercials, photos, into a splendid historical tapestry. Most of the actual work and filming was undertaken by a collective of workers, peasants, and students.

Shot secretly with the permission of militant leaders, this is a film made within the cracks of a system, against the system.

这部三部曲纪录片的标题来自古巴十九世纪民族英雄José Martí，“这是燃火的时刻，眼前只有光明”。切·格瓦拉在其最后的声明中也引用了这句话。

电影分析了祖国阿根廷和整个拉丁美洲范围内的新殖民主义以及抵抗运动，从拉丁美洲视角批判了欧美的新殖民主义。它无情地揭示了恶劣的工作条件、政府的勾结串通、军事镇压等现实情况，还有财阀因向外国利益集团出卖自然资源而强加于阿根廷穷人和土著居民的负担。

电影在激进领导者的许可下秘密拍摄，诞生于体系的裂缝中，同时又是反体系的。
