The majority of the movie takes place within a restaurant, and focuses on four miserable characters. A gang leader , accompanied by his wife and his associates, entertains himself every night in a fancy French restaurant that he has recently bought. Having tired of her sadistic, boorish husband, the wife finds herself a lover in the dinning hall and makes love to him in the restaurant's coziest places with the silent permission of the cook. But it isn’t long before the gang leader is on to them, and seeks revenge for his wife’s infidelity. It's full of horrific images that are filmed beautifully. Some critics summarize in that way: this world is a horrible, extreme place that you can't help but become horrible in, too.
