This crazy, satirical epic full of horrifying iron humorously portrays several eras in European history. It proceeds with the same actors appearing in similar roles at different periods.

In medieval times in a small country much like Georgia , where King Vano sets off to fight a rival but first locks his Queen, Eka, in a chastity belt — not knowing she has a key and revenge on her mind.

The film flashes forward to the early 1930s, with another Vano, played by the same actor, portraying a low-down thief who suddenly seizes power. And a Soviet policemen in the Communist era decides to show his son what he does for a living, treating him to a day of watching father beat and torture innocent people.

And now arms dealers in Paris eat, drink, and are merry as they enjoy the spoils of their deadly trade.

The reels are shown out of order. The film is a  funny examination of the foibles of Iosseliani's fellow countrymen. Though the costumes and regimes change, it suggests, the human motives of lust and greed remain the same.

这一疯狂而讽刺的历史题材作品中充满可怖的铁器，幽默地描绘了欧洲几个时代的历史图景。电影使用同样的演员饰演不同时期相似的人物。

电影并不是按顺序讲述的。它是对Iosseliani的同胞们的弱点所做的有趣的探究。它告诉人们，无论服装和政体怎样变化，人类的欲望和贪婪都不会改变。
