The story takes place in a fictional country called Eldorado. An idealistic poet and journalist Paulo Martins had been supporting a conservative party leader, but then decided to support the liberal candidate. The two politicians were both his former friends. However the winner reneges upon his campaign promises. So Paulo decides to stay out of politics but is soon shot on the highway.

故事发生在一个虚拟国度Eldorado。理想主义的诗人和新闻记者Paulo Martins曾经支持一位保守主义的政党领导，但后来决定支持自由主义的候选人。两位政治家都曾是他自己的朋友。然而获胜者却推翻了竞选时的承诺。所以Paulo决定远离政治，但不久就被在公路上射杀。
