One of the most memorable films from Brazil's Cinema Novo movement. It's also the sequel to Black God, White Devil, and takes place 29 years after Antonio das Mortes killed the last Cangaceiro.

Antonio reappears as the protagonist on account of a new challenge. He is hired by an old, tyrannical, blind landowner Colonel Horácio who rules over the poverty-stricken village of Jardim das Piranhas in northeastern Brazil, to dispose of Coirana who followed by a strange woman considered a Saint. But Antonio refuses to be paid because he only want to check on whether it’s true that he hasn’t killed all cangaceiros.

 In a ritual fight with machetes, Antonio fatally wounds Coirana. Soon Antonio feels troubled by his deed, and doubts that it is no longer the cangaceiro who is his enemy. He changes his way of thinking when listening to the Saint's words. He realizes that his fight should be against the landowners rather than the dispossessed country folk. After the final battle with the colonel, a silent Antonio picks up and leaves the town.

The film is packed with allegory to the politics, folklore, religion, literature, mythology, music and dance.

巴西电影新浪潮中最重要的电影之一。它也是《黑色上帝》的续篇，故事发生在Antonio das Mortes除掉最后一个强盗之后的第29年。

Antonio重新作为主角出现是因为一个新的挑战。他被一个既年老又强横还眼瞎的地主上校Horácio所雇用，这个地主掌控着巴西东北部一个穷困的村庄Jardim das Piranhas。Antonio的任务是除掉Coirana，后者身边总是跟着个被视为圣人的奇怪女人。但Antonio拒绝接受报酬，因为他只想验证一下他是不是真的还没有将强盗杀光。

在仪式化的大刀决斗中，Antonio给了Coirana致命一击。不久Antonio对合约产生了困惑，他怀疑自己的敌人已不再是强盗。后来他听了圣人一番话，更改变了自己的思考方法，意识到他应当跟地主斗争，不应当跟那些一无所有的民众作对。在与上校的战斗结束后，Antonio整装上路，留给小城一个安静的背影。

电影中随处可见政治寓言、民俗典故以及宗教、文学、神话、音乐、舞蹈等等元素。
