Brief introduction

At first Bikini Kill is the name of a feminist fanzine edited by college students Kathleen Hanna, Tobi Vail, and Kathi Wilcox. With the addition of Billy Boredom, they formed a band of the same name. Soon they became the pioneers and godmothers of the Riot Grrrl movement. Well known for its radical feminist, Bikini Kill laced its incendiary live performances with aggressive political stances that challenged the accepted hierarchy of the underground music community.
