Brief introduction Johnny Rotten changed his name to John Lydon when he left the Sex Pistols and became the leader of Public Image Ltd., symbolically severing himself from his Punk roots. PiL originally was a quartet. Their early albums came in packaging as unique as their noisy futurism. PiL broke boundaries and left a variety of deconstructed anti-rock classics. After completing his memoirs in late 1993, Lydon decided to put an end to PiL and pursue a solo career. |
