Brief introduction

This band from San Francisco Bay Area  stressed unfashionable blue-collar values and no-nonsense, unflashy songs. Creedence Clearwater Revival’s distinctive rock captured the imagination of the pop world and the more politicized subculture, and successfully bridged the gap between the underground and mainstream audiences. Bandleader Fogarty also turned to social commentary. He penned antiwar songs  which mirrored the sentiments of young Americans who feared being drafted and sent to the unpopular and escalating war in Vietnam.
