During the chaotic time of the late Tang Dynasty, a group of desperados kidnaps Dan Zhu, the daughter of a village leader, and asks for food in exchange. During the exchange, they are ambushed by soldiers and their leader is caught and executed. After a power struggle, a new leader is chosen. The new leader Ho Nan after raping the village girl over the anger of the first leader's death, falls in love with her. He then plans to pull a last deal, hoping he can retire with the girl afterward. But things don't work out as planned.
