Roswitha Bronski, played by the director's sister, is a 29-year-old housewife who married to the chemical engineer Franz Bronski. She also operates an illegal abortion clinic to support her family. The police intervene and Franz is arrested. After Franz comes out of prison, Roswitha puts aside her passivity and enters politics and social work. Armed with only her own courage, She wages a one-woman war against the authorities, the bosses, and the traditional family values.

But the most significant result is that Franz is unfairly dismissed.
