This poetic, realistic drama is set during the Middle Ages.

After insulting his father's very young bride on their wedding day, young Ondrej is sent into the harsh Order of St. Mary of Jerusalem. His residency with the order prompts existential reflection and the questioning of his fundamental beliefs. He witnesses one conscientious objector thrown to the dogs, and decides to flee. With his friends' help the young man escapes. He finally reaches home and finds his father dead. Ondrej takes over as his stepmother's lover. Happiness seems return to the Valley of the Bees but Ondrej's devout friend knight Armin is on his way to "set things right".

这一诗意的现实主义作品讲的是中世纪的故事。

小Ondrej在婚礼上侮辱了爸爸的小新娘，他被送往教规严厉的耶路撒冷圣玛丽勋爵士团。在那里的生活促使他对存在的意义展开了思考，并且开始质疑那些本质性的信仰。他亲眼看到一个由于信仰原因不肯服兵役的人被扔进狗群，于是决定离开。在朋友帮助下他逃了出来，并且最终回到家里。父亲已经去世。Ondrej后来成了继母的情人。欢乐似乎要重返蜂之谷了，但此时Ondrej的 朋友，忠贞的骑士Armin已经在路上，他要“让一切恢复秩序”。
