It's a surreal and achingly beautiful coming-of-age tale about a young Czechoslovakian girl.
After receiving a pair of earrings, strange things happen to Valerie. Her fantasy adventures begin when she imagines she is the daughter of a bishop with a hideous visage. Her village is revealed to her as a place of vampires and witches. As her burgeoning sexuality sparks even more haunting escapades, Valerie must contend with an explosively surreal world that challenges and inspires her. The line between dreams and reality is blurred in this surreal psychological fantasy.
