Wang Xiaoshan who is working at Hong Yuan Restaurant is fired for missing home. Before going home he has nothing to do and meets many fellow villager from An Yang to Beijing. They are building workers, ticket peddlers, student, waitress and whore. However none of them can be his fellow traveler. He keeps on looking for every friend at a loss. At last Xiaoshan has his townsfolk-like long hair cut off as a gift to Beijing.
